In one sitting: No affiliate links and no advertising are on the site today. If either appears, this leaf names it first, a link never costs you more, and a commission never buys a place on a plate.
Today
As of the date at the top of this leaf, Crochet Addiction carries no affiliate links and no advertising. Every link on the site goes to another leaf in the book or to something genuinely useful elsewhere, and nothing is earned from any of them.
What an affiliate link would be
An ordinary link to a shop with a tag on it saying the visitor came from here. If you follow one and buy, the shop pays a small commission from its own margin. The price you pay is the price you would have paid anyway; nothing is added to cover it.
The press's conditions for ever using one
- It points at yarn, hooks or tools Wren keeps at her own bench. If it would not earn a place in the drawer, it does not get a link, whatever it pays.
- It is marked where it appears, and it is never set into a round.
- It changes nothing on a plate: not a recommendation, not a material, not the order anything is listed in.
Why the conditions are worth more than the commission
A book that gives its plates away has its readers' trust and very little else. Trading that for a percentage of a yarn order would be the worst bargain the press could make, and it would only work once.
Programmes the press may join
Crochet Addiction may take part in the Amazon Associates programme and in similar programmes run by yarn and craft retailers. As an Amazon Associate, Crochet Addiction earns from qualifying purchases. Following such a link tells the retailer you came from here; it tells the press nothing about who you are or what you bought — only a total, long after. The privacy leaf covers the rest.
Advertising
None today. If any is ever introduced, this leaf and the cookie leaf are reset first and the network is named.
Where the money would go
Back into the book. A commission earned here pays for yarn to work the next plate in, and for the hosting that keeps every plate already set free to read. There is no subscription to sell and nothing behind an email box, so the only two ways this book can pay for itself are a link somebody was going to follow anyway and the press's own pocket. That order matters: the pocket comes first, and always has.
A line here you cannot make sense of? Write to Wren or email hello@crochetaddiction.com; she answers these herself.
